Monday night and I was feeling alright. I was in the mood for a good burger. The wife however, was in the mood for Applebee's. Yuck: was my initial thought. I must say, I couldn't have been more wrong.
We when walked in, my first thought was, "This place is packed". I wasn't sure why since I thought tomorrow was always the day to come in. Get it? See Ya Tomorrow! It's their slogan....anyway.
I quickly figured out why. It was $5.99 burger and $5 domestic pitcher night. Who wouldn't want to come here; and why did it take me so long to know about this? I like burgers, beer AND I'm cheap! Match made in heaven, some would think.
Now, the burger options aren't plentiful, but there are some nice selections (options). I went with the Bourbon Black & Bleu Burger. This baby is loaded. It has a nice blackened seasoning, onions, mushrooms, bleu cheese, smoky mayo and bacon. I never thought I would say this, but it was awesome.
The have even adopted the "Pink or No Pink" option. Always go pink. Thought Bubble! They should get together with the Susan G Komen foundation and donate a $1 from every burger ordered with the "Pink" option.
I digress. Back to the burger.
The best part of the burger has to be that it appears to be hand made. Not a pre-formed patty with no texture. This has the feel of a backyard bbq patty; which everyone loves.
Now, would I say this is the best burger I've ever had. No. But I would rank it up there with one of the best chain TJ McThursday type places, burgers. So, if you are around an Applebee's on a Monday after 4pm. Stop in, you might be surprised.
Ranking - 2 1/2 out of 4 napkins.

Risky choice going chain for your first burger out of the gate, definitely going to take a shot at your "hipster" cred...if you care...and you probably shouldn't.
ReplyDeleteMost will read this was Applebee's and scoff, but then when their parents are in town and they need a quick place to grab a bite where everyone can find something on the menu for them, they'll end up at an Applebee's. If they're smart, they'll read this review and give this Burg' a shot.
Good first review.
Thanks for the comment. You know, I was right there with the hipsters. I thought Applebees would be a bust. But, like my review says, I was wrong.
DeleteBurger was money.
